Check out all my Google+ Marketing & Strategies tips on Pinterest

Welcome to my Google+ Marketing Strategies and Tips page. My name is Stephan Hovnanian, and apparently I’ve written some articles and posts on Google+ that have helped a good many people creatively use the platform for their businesses and personal brands.

Since I publish on Google+, guest blogs, and my own blog here, it was tricky to curate all the ideas into a single resource. Then it clicked, why not combine the best social network for curation, Pinterest, and one of the coolest features of Google+, Embedded Posts?

The Google+ Pro Tips Pinterest Board

If you go here, you will see a growing list of tips you can implement right off the bat. They will help you get more exposure and have a positive experience on Google+. I promise, these ideas are simple, and they work.

Embedded Google+ posts

My thought behind embedding these Google+ posts, instead of creating separate posts for each tip, was to give you the ability to jump right into an existing conversation that I pulled the tip from in the first place. Pro Tip #2 says to leave comments and inject yourself into conversations so you can meet people. Well, here you have your pick!

Tip: you can click on the date in each embedded post to visit the post itself on Google+. I would suggest doing that, and hovering over the names of people in the comments who get your attention, to see if you might want to add them to your circles.

This is an ongoing project, so check back often or watch for updates to the Pinterest board. Not every tip corresponds to a single embedded post, but these are truly representative of the tips themselves. And I’ve also included a list of links where applicable, for anything that’s missing on Google+.

Lastly, these tips and more strategies for Google Plus marketing and branding can be found in my Google+ Pro Tips ebooks series on Amazon.

I hope you find this resource useful, and will direct people here from outside Google+ so they have a friendly place to get started. ~Stephan

Google+ Pro Tip #1: Understand your audience reach. For example, when you post to your profile, and only have 100 followers, fewer people are likely to see your post than if you posted it inside a community of 1,000 members.

Google+ Pro Tip #2: Comment more than you post. Injecting yourself into different conversations gets you maximum exposure, and can build amazing relationships.

Google+ Pro Tip #3: Reimagine your posts. For example, you shared the link in a community, now share a photo with the link in the description.

Google+ Pro Tip #4: Ask questions in communities for maximum engagement. People on Google+ love to help each other. And you don’t need an attention-getting, pointless picture to go with your question; plain text will do just fine.

Google+ Pro Tip #5: When you cite people, have guest authors, or collaborate with others on your blog posts, be sure to +mention them when you share it on Google+.

Google+ Pro Tip #16: Create a Community on Google+ with your Brand Page as the owner. It will boost the Page’s exposure and also grow the Page’s +1 count. Every little bit helps, right?

Google+ Pro Tip #17:  Embed your Hangouts On Air videos into your web pages to minimize distraction on Google+ or YouTube.

Google+ Pro Tip #26: Add your Google+ Page, Profile, and Community follow badges to your website to encourage people to follow you right from there.

Google+ Pro Tip #27: Bring your audience to Google+ by talking about it on other networks, or in email newsletters.

Google+ Pro Tip #28: Post your AutoAwesome animated image on Google+, then post the non-animated version elsewhere with a link back to the “cool version”. This exposes your non-Google+ audience to the features available on the platform.

Google+ Pro Tip #29: Give shout-outs to your Top Engagers on Google+ on Twitter, email newsletters, etc. to raise awareness about your G+ presence and how you treat your fans.

Google+ Pro Tip #30: Use a redirect to your Google+ Events as a consistent and standard way to promote your shows. When you don’t have a show, that URL can be used as a landing page to build that show’s email list for the next event.
